The weather in the basque country

It is said after the English, they always talk about the weather, but I have the impression we Germans are very similar. That's why I want to talk and write a few lines about this standard topic.

I have the impression that each guest has its own favorite concerning a weather-app, so that's almost a question of faith. For information only, I look at the weather of Urrugne and Saint Jean de Luz on the Internet The weather in Urrugne, Saint Jean de Luz und Hendaye an.

In general, the Basque Country is dominated by the Atlantic climate near the sea, as well as by us, and by the predominantly continental climate in the interior of the country. The Atlantic climate is characterized by mild temperatures in winter and summer. In winter we have an average temperature of almost 10 degrees.

The best time to travel to the basque country:

The months of April to October are ideal for getting to know the diversity of our rich region. The May is in the preseason and therefore with its mild pleasant spring temperatures a very good month of travel. I always spend holidays in May with my friends from Germany and we spend most of our time on the beach. When surfing, of course, a neoprene is announced.

In June, it attracts more tourists, but since in France and Spain only in July, the holidays begin it is still pretty quiet.

July and August are the months of the high season, with the classic holiday month still being August for the French and Spaniards. There is always enough space on the big Atlantic beaches and the nearby Pyrenees are by no means as crowded as the Alps. The temperatures are usually very pleasant, the thermometer only goes over 30 degrees in just a few days, and the nights usually always cool down a bit.

April is ideal for hiking, sea walking, cycling and sightseeing.

On sunny, warm days you can also go to the beach. The surfers of course go all year in the Atlantic with appropriate wetsuits. The autumn of September and October are very sunny and pleasant months. October can still be considered as a bathing month, as the sea is pleasantly heated by the summer temperatures.

From November, it will also be dark from 19.00 clock, after all, you have one more hour of daylight than in Germany. In November and December, of course, there are some rains, but we regularly have south winds, in which the temperature very often rise to 17 - 18 degrees. A walk by the sea during this time is a very beautiful nature experience, as the beaches are deserted.

Anglet in Winter

In general, it can always come to a rainy day, so it is important, especially in spring, autumn and winter to be prepared for it. A walk in the rain by the sea can be fun especially the warm coffee afterwards, you just have to have the right clothes with you.
